Dust to Dust FAQsUpdated 8 months ago
Can I use Dust to Dust on my plants?
Yes, we do recommend Dust to Dust for use with plants.
The powder can be applied to the stems and leaves of both house plants and those in your garden. However, where applicable, you may want to avoid areas where beneficial insects, such as bees, pollinate.
The silica in Dust to Dust can strengthen the cell walls of plants, and the specialized essential oil formula repels and eliminates destructive insects.
Is Dust to Dust safe for use with animals?
Dust to Dust is completely non-toxic and plant-based. Therefore, it is safe to use with pets and will not cause harm.
Please keep in mind that Dust to Dust is a fine silica powder. This means that it may irritate you or your pet if you breathe it in, directly. It may also cause irritation if your pet has sensitive skin.
We recommend use on a pet's bedding, working it in and brushing off excess dust, to deal with fleas and other unwanted pests.
Please note that pets may have individual sensitivities, and we recommend consulting your vet for any concerns you may have regarding your furry (or feathery) friend.
How do I use Dust to Dust as a preventative measure?
Dust to Dust can be used proactively as a preventative against pest invasions. Simply apply the product at any and all entry points.
Here are a few common ones:
- Outdoors, around the perimeter your home's foundation, near entry points and all other areas where insects can access your home.
- Garage doors can also be a great space for insects to crawl through. Dust along the bottom of the walls in your garage and near the garage door tracks.
- Attics are a common space for insects and spiders to hide out because they typically don’t see as much foot traffic and are often undisturbed. Apply the powder around the edges, and in corners, crevices and all the in-betweens.
We recommend that you monitor the areas where the product has been applied and reapply when you see it begin to fade away. Fortunately, the light color of Dust to Dust means it tends to stand out. That makes it relatively easy to see. Reapplication is key to keeping pesky invaders fully out of your home.
How do I use Dust to Dust?
Dust to Dust can be applied around the home in both dry and wet applications.
For a dry application, shake the powder into a line around the perimeter of the desired space. You can use The Insect Buster, a specifically designed bulb duster, for easy application of this product.
For a wet application, follow these steps:
- Mix one part powder with 16 parts filtered water (e.g. 1/4 cup Dust to Dust, 4 cups filtered water), and shake well until dissolved.
- Add this mixture in a high-output spray bottle. We recommend using the stream setting, which gets the silica and other ingredients to come out easier than when misted.
- Shake and spray, applying around the perimeter of the desired space. Allow the product to dry before reaching maximum effectiveness.
What if dust to dust is accidentally ingested?

If ingested, please consult a doctor or veterinarian immediately.
Do I need to wear a mask while applying Dust to Dust?
Dust to Dust is all natural and non-toxic. It is safe for use around humans and animals. However, the fine dust may prove to be irritating for some people, if breathed in directly.
We encourage sensitive groups, such as individuals with allergies, to wear a face mask when spreading Dust to Dust to prevent breathing in the fine particles.
If you are not using a mask, we recommend holding the applicator below the waist, away from your face.
