Cedar Chip Canister FAQsUpdated 8 months ago
Will Cedar Chips kill or repel insects?
Dr Killigan's Cedar Chips—specifically the oil and wood from the Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana) that these shavings consist of—contain properties that are proven to repel insects like clothing moths, silverfish and cockroaches. They do not, however, kill them.
Cedar is valued not only for its insect-repelling properties but also as a natural, safer alternative to chemical repellents, like mothballs, which can pose health risks to humans and pets.
Where can I use Cedar Chips?
Dr. Killigan's Cedar Ward Chips come in a handy canister that is designed for use pretty much anywhere!
Place them in your woolens drawer, your closet, inside a cupboard or pantry, storage bin, and anywhere you store clothing or other items susceptible to insect damage.
The small black canister will fit nearly anywhere, and the perforated top ensures maximum fragrance while preventing spills.
Are Cedar Chips safe for pets and children?
YES! The Cedar Ward Chips are naturally non-toxic, and safe when used as directed around food, pets and children.
Dr. Killigan takes pride in using only the safest ingredients. All of our products are classified as Minimum-Risk Pest Products, meaning they contain ingredients that are recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to "pose little to no risk to human health and the environment.”
Will the Cedar Chips damage fabrics or surfaces?
Dr. Killigan's Cedar Chips are made of 100% Eastern Red Cedar shavings. Used as intended, inside the canister provided, these will have no impact on your fabrics or other surfaces they come in contact with. That is, other than repelling unwanted critters!
How long do these last? Can I extend their lifetime?
Dr. Killigan's Cedar Chips retain their original fragrance potency for up to 6 months. As with all natural wood, the scent may fade over time.
To keep your Cedar Chips fresh and fragrant, spritz with the Cedar Ward spray every 1-3 months to restore the natural oils to the chips and maintain their repelling power.
